Frequently Asked Questions
What size portrait do you do? I can do any size from 8” x 6” (aperture) up to A3.
What colour backgrounds can I choose from? You can choose from white, light/dark grey, light/dark blue and anthracite. Choice of colour and surface will depend on the subject(s).
What images do you need? Clear, in focus images are best. I will also need a close up of the animal’s eyes to ensure I get the detail. The better the photo the better the drawing.
How long does it take? Each commission is bespoke, I will give you a timescale once I receive a clear image and we have agreed the details of the portrait.
Will I get updates when the drawing has started? Of course, I will send you updates throughout so you can let me know if you’re happy with the colour and progress. This way we can make tweaks along the way. However, no major changes can be made once the portrait is underway.
Can I take different parts of multiple images? Absolutely, several customers send me a few images for example, they like the animal’s mouth on one, but they prefer the way they’re sitting on another image.
What materials do you use? I use the best quality, lightfast coloured pencils and provide a care sheet on how best to display your portrait to ensure its longevity.
Do you ship internationally? Yes, I can ship these to anywhere in the world. Shipping costs will be calculated.
How much do you charge? To give you an idea of cost, I currently charge £100.00 for a single-subject portrait, head and shoulders only (8” x 6” aperture). Additional subjects are 50% extra. Please note, I do review my prices every three months.
How do I pay? I accept PayPal or Bank Transfer, there will be a small fee to secure the booking so work can commence.
